European Mount Help

Submitted by Jae on 1/16/06 at 10:35 AM. ( ) 64.33.132.131

I ordered a european mount kit & extra chemicals to do five heads. I followed instructions to the letter on all five. The first two turned out perfect, but the last three are giving me trouble. They don't seem to want to dry, and two of them actually smell.

What do I need to do?

maybe ALl the "stuff" didn't come out with the last two/three. I know I am doing 4 right now and I usualy have a tendancy to rush these smelly things. Weather as it is.. it is difficult for me to even FIND sun to set them in. I have to keep moving them around.. And rain is coming in a few hours. Did you get all the stuff from out of the nostrils? It goes a long way up in there. There is also a membrane around the brain which is the last to come out there.
Just look, look, look. Get a flashlight and look up in there. I have some MALODOR I am going to try on the back of one of mine that seems a bit "nasty". I don't want to stain it so am spot checking on the back first... A cover-up scent won't do. It has to be something to kill the odor.

me too

Mine is going to live on my back porch til it stops smelling. I don't want to boil it again cause it looks great, I will have to let nature do its job, next time its going to my fav taxidermist to get beetled.

try a bucket or plastic pan ..

with hot water and dawn dish soap. Change it every day or two times a day if you have time. IF you boiled you shouldn't have to do this but a few days. I clean with beetles and it takes 4-7 days for antelope to elk. No grease, no smell.
