I have mounted a few whitetail (12). And never had a problem. I put my sons together last night. No problem putting is together but when I woke up this morning and checked it the eyes were covered in a white powdery substance. I used krow-tan. should I be worried?

What about your glue

I don't use krow-tan so i'm not sure about that but what type of glue did you use sometimes it can leave a film on the eyes if not cleaned well. but doesn't sound like a big problem if the rest of the mount doesn't have any problems clean the eyes good and keep a check on it. or if your using clay around the eyes it could be a thin layer of clay that dried on the eye.

mayeb a mold

Dont really know and do not use Krowtan but it sounds like a mold of soem sort fromed or a chemical reaction with your paste and tan method.

Could it be dried clay?

Could you have smeared the clay around the eye's when you pulled your cape over them?

Sounds like

a thin layer of clay to me. Try cleaning it off. I've used Krowtann, and it has never been the problem. It's always been clay that was not completely cleaned off and when it dries, it'll show. Just clean the eyes better. BP

I have seen that too

I always wrote it off as being salt, windex and a q-tip seems to work.
