Try Epo-Grip

Jamie,
Have you tried Epo-Grip . I use Krowtan 90% of the time on my animals and with the deer and elk I use Epo-Grip on my ear liners after roughing them up and giving them a quick rub with a cloth soaked in laquer thinner and I never have any drumming problems . Also if you want to go the bonding route try Epo-Grip ear magic . Both ways work great . Have a good day . Jim Burnside

make sure

make sure they are dry enough and you wont have that problem - i only had one to do that and like Burnside said wipe ear with laquer thinner or acetone - then i blow dry to get the moisture out - and i have no problem doing it this way

Both lacquer thinner and acetone (MEK, and xylene)are epoxy solvents. Any residual MAY effect your results down the road. Soap and water do fine in cleaning the ears and epoxy bonds to plastic so the liners don't need to be roughed up though it certainly won't hinder the process.

question for George

If lcquer thinner is an epoxy solvent and it is applied, rubbed off with a rag and allowed to evaporate (it evaporates very quickly) do you think it might still react with epoxy as a solvent?

I've been washing my ears in lacquer thinner and then epoxying the liners into my ears for many years and have never had one drum.

Both leave a residue behind

I used to wiped ears with thinner and now use just rubbing alcohol. Just wipe it on a mirror and you will see. I never really had a problem either but better to be safe than sorry.

I Think

You people are not fitting your liners right, I never use any high tech epoxies or cleaners and never have drumming issues. A light sanding and buckeye supreme is all you need. Fit your liners to the ear edges keeping the skin slightly loose in the center of the inside ear. The buckeye will dry slowly along with the thin skin of the ear and bingo no drumming. Also use a blow dryer to pre dry the ear skin prior to inserting your liner. You will never get bondo or ear magic to equal a rick carter or epply earliner ear period!

If the earliner fits and I mean fits there should be no problems.
