Cut the rest of the skull plate off at the very base of the antlers and use a shed connector system. McKenzie sells them
You've probably already got the hardware in your shop. Those small wire loop hanger that we use on mounts. Cut the loop off to give you a metal strap with at least 2 screw holes in it. With two of those straps, attach them to ONE SIDE of the cut skull with the tabs sticking out over where the other half will fit. Slide the other half the skull over to match it and attach the brackets with two more screws. Now, turn the skull over. With two more straps, start the same way on th inside. Pressing the skull downward to stretch the exterior straps to their maximum, put two screws in the other two screw holes. Now you have 2 straps inside, 2 outside holding the skull banjo tight. Mix up some fiberglass resin and add a handfull of fiberglass chop. Mask around your skull brain cup area to keep it from leaking and pour it into the brain cavity. Let it cure. When it cures, turn the antlers over and remove the exterior straps. Grind the skull as necessary to get it to fit the form, drill holes and attach it to your manikin. The screws will prevent it from ever falling apart and the interior straps are now imbedded in the fiberglass to prevent them opening up.
thanks i'll give it a try
