I'm not too experienced with deer mounts but I would put a worn out fence post in the scene to attach the deer to. If you don't want to do this I would run a wooden or metal pole up a corn stalk and use screws to attach the deer to this corn stalk with the solid fixture inside it. Make sure the metal/wooden pole is securely fastened to the bottom of the mount though.
i have a pedistal mount with a corn field what i did was went to walmart and bought a boat bracket that the seat pedistal sits in. I attached it to a base then built a corn field scene around it i took a large corn stalk and raped the bracket post like a con stalk. Then i ran a wooded dowl in the form out the brisket then it would slide in the bracket,it actually swivels so you can turn the head at any angle worked great.
I am sorry, but when I read the line "raped the bracket post like a con stalk". I just cracked up for some reason. lol
It is my understanding that Don Stevens "Last one Standing" had a 3/4 threaded rod that was cast in corn stalk. I would love to know the details on how that was achieved because it looks great, but seems like that would be a major challenge. Anyone have any clue?
If your going to do that to a bracket post, use some kind of wrapping for protection.
