what would be the difference

Between fire line, and Bowstring, or Nylon Thread. Why should it dry rot any quicker than anything else?

Fire Line

Being a big fan of it and use it on all my mounts I'll say this, by the time it dry rots if it does, I'll be planted next to a bed of very pretty dandelions making fertilizer for them.
If you use hide paste on your mounts there's no need to worry.

I have

been using fireline on all my mounts and love it. Hardly ever have I had it break. I have used it for years and have had no problem.

Whitey, I have a question for you

What kind of thread do YOU use that doesn't eventually deteriorate? Did you ever consider that the hide that it's holding together is more likely to disintegrate than the line itself. Fireline is better than anything else out there PERIOD.

And once again

Geo and I totally agree (oh my god the pigs must be flying somewhere). Fireline is second to none. I have been using it for nearly eight years and I will never go back to any other string.

Well

Well I guess I'm switching to fireline that was my only reason for not using it.

It pulls through smooth and you can knot it right behind the needle if you want. Strong and I have also liked how you can sew up about two inches of seam and the pull the whole thing together as it slides so well through the skin.
I would not use anything else either.
