i stitched up a deer but when it dried it pulled apart. i guess i didn't pull it tight enough. it left about a 1/8'' gap. would it be fine to put putty over the stitches paint it the glue hair on it. or just glue hair and forget about the putty.

It would be BETTER if you redid the stitching

Wet a towel with warm water (saturate it) and lay it over the seam. Tightly wrap the entire neck with plastic freezer wrap and let it set for two days. Go in and pull your shoddy stitch work and resew.

I won't be as harsh as the first response but it sounds like the manikin is too large for the skin. Do as he said but I still think you will have a problem getting a nice seam. You would have to hydrate the entire skin to get enough stretch to close the gap. Make sure you use the baseball stitch and keep your stitch about 3/16 of an inch apart. Putty is a bad name when fixing mistakes because it will not look natural. The idea is to have a nice seam and when dried be invisable to the eye and touch. Depending on how long ago you mounted the deer I would remount it and stretch the cape before mounting. It always better to test fit your cape before mounting. If you did you may have discovered that the cape did not fit correctly.
