as for cowlicks, im not sure if its too thin of skin or something else. maybe someone of more knowledge on that subject, like george, may know. but, if your having trouble with hair not going where you want it to and staying there, use hair gel. i have had a few mounts that the hair had a mind of its own. a little gel on it and you can put it were it needs to be. then when its all dry, use a damp sponge and wipe it off. this works great. good luck

Some just have them

Just like people, sometimes they just have a cowlick. My oldest son has always had one, this is why he has short hair so it doesn't show. I just did a bear that was an early season (late August) kill that had two terrible cowlicks on the hips where the hair changed direction. Elk have all kinds of them on their forelock and around the pedicules. If they're natural, leave em' alone.
