After you finish mounting a deer head do you most of you attach it to a drying board with screws to flatten the hair or do you hang it on a wall to dry?

If I'm going to attach it to a wall pannel or finish the back with felt, then I use a back board. I charge extra for those services so 90 percent of the time I hang them on a screw on the wall, tuck the hairs behind the mount neatly and let dry.

Cut it off!

I cut it off flush with the backboard. Use an exacto- knife or scalpel and just cut through skin avoiding the hair. I use " Smooth Out" on the foam, at the edge to keep the hide in place. Let it dry a few days before you make the cut. They hang real nice, no wobble.
