Does it matter what position your deers ears are in if it goes on a semi sneak form. I was told they should be back a little. Seems to me there is no right or wrong way. its all in the look you want. Am i right or wrong John H

Just MY opinion

But I think the ear position should be used to enhance the antlers on commercial work. The semi-sneak really isn't that much more than a relaxed deer pose. Ears forward or back work well, while the sneak seems to need the ears back look. Either way, I use the ears to fill the void between the head and the main beam of the antler (figuratively).

Deer ears

John H, There just isn't one correct way here. In fact on my personal deer most have one ear back and one more forward. To me the ears look more natural that way but most of my customners want the ears to "match". Most customers seem to prefer the ears focused forward (my least favorite pose). I offer the choice to my customers but lots of taxidermists do not, when a customer leaves it up to me on a semi sneak form I roll the ears a bit and lay them back some. When you watch a deer in the wild as it travels through the woods the ears may assume most any position and often they are moving in different directions so there are many correct choices. Enjoy, Aaron H.
