i have a customer that has an old mount that the leather in the front part of the eye has cracked. i havent accepted the job jet because i wanted to get som input on it. from what he tells me its only 8 years old, but was setting close to his fire place. the skin between the eye and tear duct is cracked. can this be repaired with finishing wax, or is there something better.

Would be my choice to fix it. I would apply a thin layer then lightly brush it with a stiff dry brush in the dirrection of the hair pattern. Paint it up and you shouldn't be able to tell.
I am bad to tear the rear corner of the eye and that is how I have been fixing it. Good luck
