I was wandering what some of you tell your customers how long it will be before they get there deer head back? I just want to get an average. I do taxidermy part time and I am trying to figure out how many deer heads that I can do so that I can get their deer back to them in a reasonable amount of time.

The following summer. We start our deer in May and finnish them in Aug.Weather theirs get done first or last I cannot promise them.

My contract says that it might take a year or longer, but I won't take in anything that I can't finish within 6 months. The one year clause on my contract protects me incase I get sick or injured which has happened to me.
On what my backlog is. Most customers are ok with what ever I tell them but they seem most upset when I tell them a date and miss it.

6 to 12 Months but I usually have it done 4-5 months.
Once I had a customer call me 4 weeks after bringing me the Deer and asked if it was ready yet. I told him "He had a better chance hitting the Lotto".
I mount one deer head a week on the average and I get in about 30-40 heads. I tell them I will call when I mount it that gives them a two week window to come up with the balance due. I then call them in two weeks to let them know its ready for pick up.
