Just received a cape in full velvet been shot since august. He also gave me a nice cape shot in january. My question is do yall think that this velvet can be removed safely after being in the freezer for almost six months? Should i just soak it and mount it with the velvet on. Customer says he would like to have it removed for scoring purposes. 150 class buck! Thanks!

I would think the antlers are hard by mid August. However it is posable they may not be completely. I would thaw them and check by using a pin. or fine wire. Removing the velvet amounts to pealing it off. The antlers will probably need to be stained as they will come out of velvet white.
