I've got a whitetail cape that measures 8" from nose to eye, but it only has and 18" neck under the ears. I can't find a form that matches these two measurements. So, my question is, should I get a form with the face size and alter the neck or should I get one with the neck size and alter the face?

Youe need to get a form with the right size neck. Then get a replacement head that fits. Cut the smaller head off and install the right size head.
down in your eye to nose up to 3/4 of an inch without too many problems. Taxi the skin around. You will find thats it actually makes a better mount when you have extra to work with.
Red, You can add to the face length a LITTLE without things looking wierd. Saw the snout off just behind the mouth, space it out as needed with wires add some bondo and assemble. Shave off excess bondo and touch up,shave form to get smooth finish and mount. I would have no problem adding 1/2" this way but as Paul said, a bit of extra skin can be taxied around so an exact fit is not necessary. Enjoy, Aaron H.
Yea, I've alterred faces several times.
Well... every time I use a Meder form, come to think of it. :)
I think I'm gonna go with the right neck form and if I can't get one close to the face measurement, try a change-out head.
Thanks for the advice, all!
those measurement...8 inch eye to nose with only an 18 inch 'B' measurement? That sounds like something is not right.
So I measured it several times, just to be sure.
Then I put it around an old 19" form I had, and could barely stretch it closed. Put the face on a 7" form and it hung off the end of the nose.
