Rebuild lip slot on form

What would you guys use to build up or should I say refill area of lip slot?I recieved a mount from a guy that wants me to remount,the previous taxidermist used a saws all or something to cut the lip slot,very wide cut.Im trying to salvage this form,any help would be great.

can foam

use can foam like you would insulate around pipes and things or just buy a new 35 dollar form and be done with it as well


Apoxi sculpt

Just before you tuck the lips, fill the gap with apoxi sculpt and tuck the lips in that. It will give you a better hold than anything.


Do NOT use can foam

That stuff is bad news for taxidermy. It does NOT expand completely the first few days. It takes a week and by that time, your manikin will look as if it was sucker punched. Use standard two-part foam if you intend to foam it.


can form

Canned foam is for cracks around windows and doors, dries slow, and is to soft for taxidermy work, and full of large air bubbles. It is great everywhere else, but not for taxidermy.

canned foam Is okay for taxidermy. Just not as forms. I use it for bases, and scenery all the time.

Why not buy the 4 part foam that dries within minutes? And it'a a WHOLE LOT CHEAPER.
