I am a beginner taxidermist, I have only been mounting deer for about five years. I have recently mounted my first competition deer and was looking for a little advise on how to fix drumming in the ears. I removed the cartlige, dipped the earliner in laquer thinner and sand, then used killer glue as an adhesive. I made sure to trim the ears for shrinkage and carded the ears to prevent drumming. However after removing the cards I found some slight drumming. Can I fix this. I thought about rehydrating the inner ear and injecting some sort of glue and carding again. Will this work? I have read that killer glue isn't all that great, but I have had success with it in the past. Should I use a different glue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

with something like the Epo-Grip fast set. It will fill the void. BP
Find the earliest garbage pickup available and put all your Killer Glue in a bag and leave it there. Do NOT dip your earliners in lacquer thinner as lacquer thinner tends to break down epoxy as well as melt plastic. Buy some Liquid Fast Set from Epo-Grip. Test fit your line to insure it fits properly, mix 3/4 of the 2 part epoxy, put it in the ear pocket and squeeze it around, insert the liner, and push all the air bubbles to the rear. In 10 minutes your ear is DONE. And it won't drum because it won't move.
