antler mount-opinion

But the skull cap cover looks like a preformed kit. I just don't care for those. One size doesn't fit all. I form all my own from mache. It looks like the gold rope covers the antler burr. IMO that detracts from the trophy...

Yes, I bought a kit. Next time I'd like to customize it myself. In my opinion, I like the antler plates best. But,as long as it looks presentable, that's good enough for me. I never did think to put the plate over the antler burrs. Well, next time I'll improve, but I'm happy with it. Thanks alot for your opinions. Does anybody do similar mounting styles that I could see photos of?
