Re-Mount

This is a complete re-mount with the original cape, of a deer I mounted last summer. I cut the stitches and pulled the cape off easily, (the hide paste wasn't very thick) and the hardest part was re-doing the ears. They were torn and drummed badly, so I repaired them with dryer sheets and used the Ear Magic method.

Just thought I would post pics. There was some slippage earlier around the eyes, and the tear ducts were difficult to mount properly because they had been cut and torn previously. (Didn't airbrush the ears yet, but it is done for the most part)

There appears to be a bump on the white patch of the neck, but I felt it as the mount was still drying, and it's just the long hair sticking out. I tried combing the hair down a bit, but it keeps sticking out. I think I'm going to card that area and let it sit for several weeks.

I guess you are smarter than me. I re-mounted the first few that I did, but I just started over with new capes!

I've found that just a dab of hair gel and lightly pinning a piece of screen over a problem hair patch like that helps alot.

I can tell what type of forms you like in the one pic, a very good choice.

Best of luck to you.

Looking Good,

Nina, I give you credit for spending the time to fix your past mistakes. You are learning and improving with each mount.

stretch the cape behind the throat patch to make it fit over the form? That will make the hair stand up like that sometimes.
