I've been using Epo-Grip water based hide adhesive for awhile. I like all aspects of it except one...it dries very quickly. I've also used Buckeye, but I really want a similiar product with a longer working time. Any ideas?

I can scoot the skin around for about 2 minutes before it's set. Even if I mix the Epo-Grip waterbase 50/50 with water, or paint it on the skin and the form, I get the same fast-set results. All skins I mount are fully immersion tanned. I have even had this happen on commercially tanned skins. Is there a way to slow down the set-up time?
try one with the epoxy
youll never use anything else again i bet
read up in the archives
and mix in a couple of batches when you do
as far as waterbase i dont think youll find anything better than thee two you mentioned
and ive used both
i was suprised at how much better the epozy held and i had PLENTY uf time to taxi and do all i wanted
Lots of time to taxi skin around, great adhesion when it sets, cleans up easy.
The reason I use the water-based stuff is in case I screw up, or I want to re-mount in a year, or re-adjust an eye that shrunk 3 weeks in to drying, I can. So I'd like a solution to the problem. The answer should not be 'use a different type of glue - epoxy or latex based'. It should ideally help to solve the problem with this glue.
The tanned skins I mount are usually quite wet during the scooting phase. The glue really should not 'set up' so fast at all. I get longer working time from Zap-A-Gap Gel (superglue/cyanoacrylate) sometimes.
Can the Epo-Grip guy help a fella out here?
