leather kits

On Van Dykes Taxidermy I found a leather covering antler mount kit. I like it alot, but am wondering if you would settle for a kit. What are the materials needed for doing a leather antler mount? I would like to give them a try and am looking for recommendations. Thanks

I make my own, I mount the horns to a 4inch round piece of wood and use paper mache to cover the skull plate all the way to the burrs
(leave room for your braided rope) round it off from the bottom of your wood. After it's dry I use either leather or felt to finish and a piece of braided rope around the horn bases. Than I mount everything to a plaque It's probably easier to use a kit but, I prefer to make my own.

thats just about what I use

except I order everything separate and have about 6 different colors a customer can choose from. If it's for your own deer I say go for it !

thanks

Next time I get a deer I'll try some leather mounts. I like the mount plates, but don't like the way they fit(you can't seem to get them correctly over the antlers). I should be getting some antlers soon, hopefully, so I'll do some practice ones for fun. Thanks alot.
