Hey guys...Any advise on if a deer has an unsightly hair clump missing? I have a 130 class 8pt that has a quarter size piece of hair missing on the back side of his head...( maybe from fighting) I would like to fix it if I could, otherwise it takes away from the deer mount! Let me know

I am amazed at how many newbies have not figured to cut those areas out.
Matter of fact just a few days ago "GEORGE" told someone to do just that. Guess you did not read "George's" post did you?
Maybe listed under warts. But it is the same thing cut a football shaped hole, removing the hairless area completely, I cut carefully and m ake sure I don't cut the hair, but do cut into the area that has hair and sew the hole up.
Hint the smaller the neddle and thread the less malletizing, hinting the repair with a hammer you will have to do after it is mounted.
This aint rocket science, I liked that response.
Chris, another solution is to apply modge podge or silicone to that area-cut some hair off of scraps that pretty well match up and layer hairinto that area-it works great, especially if you've ever had hair slip on a mount after putting it together.
John W. are you kidding me ?
It looks pretty good if you do it right. RTV silicone, patience ,and a good eye are a must to pull this off. It works!
I WOULD LIKE TO SEE IT,I saw several bears done this way by an award winning Taxidermist with 35 + years of experience.I would think bears would be easier than deer.I could tell the patches from 20 feet away, what a joke.Mr. award winning experienced taxidermist wondered why allot of his bears faces slipped every year,DUHHH.Every year when we were on our way to our stands at 2:00 pm. his customers bears were still out in the 75 + degree heat laying in the yard waiting for pictures, show & tell, most times they were still there with lights on them when were on our way back at 11:00 pm.Award winning with 35 + years of experience,I guess some never learn,if he did he didn't remember..Earl
Only thing I can tell you is -it works-and you couldn't tell on my pieces-nuff said!
