Mounted a whitetail 5 days ago and when I groom the mount strands
of hair are being brushed out, not clumps. I purchased a bottle
of Stop Slippage and and sprayed on the mount using a pump sprayer
let stand for one hour and when I came back the the hair was hard
with a brissel brush feel to it. Tried to groom the hair again but
with not much luck. It locked the hairs alright but now I have
a mount that is not soft and looks unnatural. Has anyone used this
product with similar results. Any help would be appreciated.

stop grooming it and let it dry. The hair roots are still swollen with enough moisture to make them loose. Depending on whether you used an acid pickle or not the hide could still have bacteria growing on it until dry. Some guys simply soak in a salt brine and flesh/shave and brush on the tan. This is when bacteria can cause a slight problem until all moisture is gone. When it completely dries it should lock up those hairs tight, then you can groom all you want. One of the reasons I got away from using that product on whitetails.
