Hey guys got another one for ya...Just did my first full sneak mount, and Im not satisfied with how it turned out! I take precise measurements on all my deer and have never had a problem like this...My eyes did not line up with the form? I do a Y insision on my mounts, and as I was trying to get it around the antler base and sew it...It would pull my face skin way to tight, and the eyes were way to slanted...I measured my antler tip to nose measurement aswell. Thats where the problem seems to be, but it dosent seem right to set the horns differntly that they were naturally, B/C I would have to cut off some skull plate and move forward approx 1-1.5 inches? Bottom line...Are there different or additional mearsures I need to take on a sneak deer?
Thanks

from the front corner of the eye to the leading edge of the burr or the center of the burr on the side. Antler tip measurements rely on you achieving the exact same angle of the antlers in relation to the skull to be correct. Measure the skull not air between the nose and antlers.
from the edge of the eye socket (about the 2 o'clock position on the left eye) to the base of the burr. I monitor that measurement and match it up when I set the antlers. It doesn't really matter what angle the antlers are at if this distance stays firm.
criss, i always measure from the front edge of the antler burr to the front corner of the eye, then the tip of the horn to the corner of the nose, then put it back that way. this way it is always as it was. works great for me. but since you may not have done that ahead of time, you can come real close with the measuements you did take of the horn tips, if you set the burr at 2 3/4" from the front corner of the eye. that is a prety close average, and if you place it there you should be darn close. hope this helps.
bob
measure from tip nose to base of horn then mesure from tip of nose to tip of right main beam point and tip nose to tip left main beam point for correct antler placement you should also measure from tip nose to front corner eye before you skin head in orde to get the nose legnth for mankin
The main beams should run tangent with the ridges above the eye sockets. After I get that set measure from the back corner of the eye sockets to the burrs using the length of my first thumb joint (for me about 1 ¼)). Works every time, I use to measure burr to nose and nose to tip. To much measuring. I do all my deer that way commercial and competition. It always works for me.
