I visited my first competition this year and I was waiting for some of these deer mounts to wink at me, they were clear and even looked wet. I'm used to the prerotated and that didn't hold a candle to the others I was looking at. Anybody have a idea what I was looking at?

The most realistic, warm, liquid eye out there is the Brad Eppely TruEyes. Those features, coupled with a very accurate shape makes it my choice for both comp as well as ALL commercial work, too. Has been for quite a few years now. Some others say it doesnt look like the premium glass eyes, and theyre right, it doesnt. It looks just like alive deer eyes, though! An eye youll see alot of at shows is the Meder eye from Tohickon. Its very popular, and very well received.
McKenzie LIKES TO CREATE THEIR OWN EYE(JUNK) AS OUR TOHIKON. THEY SELL THEIR EYE FOR THE SAME PRICE AND TELL THEIR CSRS IF THE CUSTOMER DOESNT ASK FOR TOHIKON TO GIVE THEM THE McKenzie EYE. THEIR WAY OF SELLING THEIR JUNK INSTEAD OF QUALITY. SO BE SURE TO TELL THEM YOU WANT NAME BRAND.
(what a surprise) The TruEyes rule plus they are cost effective, An important consideration in commercial work. Now if Brad would come up with a boar eye I would be a happy man.
used TruEyes (may need to try them), but I use the Meder eyes in comp as well as commercial work. BP
I too really like the look of the TruEyes, however when I first tried them I was a bit rough and scratched the eyes. If you are going to try them, I recommend using wooden tools and a paint brush... DONT use metal tools!. The viening on those eyes is the best on the market in my opinion.
I'm with Bill on this, the true eye is easy to use, and looks good on a competition mount from a distance, although my preference has recently changed on my top end competition mounts, where I use the Joe Meder eye, but I order directly from Tohicon, and I order at least three pair at a time. Also, I get them without the extra brown. The reason why I order three pair, is so I can hand select the ones that match the best. Also, the reason I order them without the extra brown, is for rotation purposes. I think the Meder eye has the best iris, and therefore your up close work will look better. I also have my own tricks for making those little veins, but we wont get into that right now.
Where can I get the Brad Eppely TruEyes?
what about joe coombs 3rd eyes?
