As I'am getting older it is harder to set eyes on gameheads. I set the eyes on the form, stand back an it looks good, mount the skin and notice one eye is a littel off. After 30 years of Taxidermy, now I'm having trouble with eyes. Has anyone tried the (Eye Level)from Research Mannikins? Hard to use? Dose it work? Any info. helpful. Thanks Dan

GLASSES! LOL! Seriously Dan, my vision has tanked in the last couple of years myself and I've had to invest in a couple pairs of reading glasses. I only needed a 1.0 but I picked up a variety of strengths (up to 2.5) so that I can sorta use the (stronger ones) like a magnifying glass when I'm doing close up work. They're pretty cheap at Sam's club. I've got about 4 pair I have strategically placed throughout the house/shop as I'm always setting a pair down and misplacing them. It's a bear getting old isn't it? :)
Between my wife and I we have about 10 pair besides my reading glasses only my come from walgreens. Lately after 10 or so mounts I go back and adjust one eye on two or three of them. The eye level looks likes a good idea and was looking for feed back from someone that has one. I might buy one anyway, its not like it would be the only tool in the shop not being used if it does'nt work. Thanks for your responce Marty, it's to bad the eyes are the second thing to go with age. I don't want to talk about the first thing. Dan
Try the magnifying visor that the suppliers sell. Not sure what power they are but you can flip them up when not in use. I bought mine thru McKenzie. It has really helped me in my old age.

I went through the same thing, getting old sucks but it's alot better than the alternative.
Go to the eye Doctor and get a complete checkup. There are many things that need checking than just for glasses.
Tell the Doctor you want " Double D's " for lenses in the glasses. There tri-focals, once you get used to them you will not due without them. Tri -focals have a bifocal cut on the top and botton of the glass. Make the top cut 1 or 2 millmeters narrower than they usually make them. You don't need the full width on the top cut for our business.
What can you suggest for the carpal tunnel in my left hand and the trigger finger ( middle) on my right hand.
I was able to avoid surgery for bi-lateral carpal tunnel with acupuncture--this was about 16 or 17 years ago. I was a secretary in a hospital and typed at least 6 hours a day. I went thru the EMG tests that were positive and was in the process of scheduling surgery. Since I worked in physican credentialing I was not going to schedule surgery until certain staff were all available. At that point I was desperate enough to try anything and went for acupuncture--six sessions, working mostly on my neck, shoulders and wrists did the trick.I canceled the surgery. I still am in a job where I do a lot of data entry and have not had a recurrence of CTS. I still have problems with my neck because I was rear ended in later years in a minor accident. Try to learn to pace yourself; if you are having a flare-up, wrist splints are available at most drug stores without a RX. I want to add that acupuncture does not work for everyone, but a reputable acupuncturist will advise you on first visit if you are not a viable candidate for this.

I'm only 23 but have carpal tunnel in both my hands and have had it for about 10 years, I did have surgery on my dominent hand(right) and get cortizone shots in my left hand every now and than. They say they are good for about 4 or 6 months but havn't had one in almost a year. Only problem with that is they can only give you a maximum of 4 shots in your life time. I to tried the splints but the only time they ever did any thing was when I was sleeping, just made it a little more bearable to sleep, didn't wake up screaming as often! I am happy with what the surgery did and hope to have it done on my left hand but it will put you out of commision for a little while, I had a cast on for 10 days and it was about 2 weeks after that before I could really "use" it good. Talk to an orthopedic doctor, they might have some other ideas to. Even your family dr. might be able to help. Can't wait till I get old if this is how I feel at 23!
