Here is a few questions I have!
1.How long does it take a cape to dry and how can you tell it is?
2.The skin still looks oily what is the best way to wash it?
3.I have a double action airbrush and am not to good with it how can 4.I practice before I hit the mount?
Sorry to all you taxidermist who dont think I tried. This is my first mount at 18 years old and tanning the cape myself going into this knowing little about mounting a deer.

Can you take a few more pics of the eyes close up? The cape should have been washed prior to mounting, with pert plus.

Usually two weeks or less to dry, depending on the weather.
I consider my mounts dry when I can no longer move the ears at all.
Just practice with your brush on a piece of paper till you get the feel of it. Don't be scared to try the mount either. The paints can be easily cleaned off and you can start over. Also keep in mind when painting almost anything in taxidermy less is more. Don't over do it. With most things just a light mist of color is enough. Too much makes it LOOK painted.
Painting with an artist brush that's how I finish all my deer.
like not having any pcitures at all
