why do some deer hides get softer faster in the pickle than others, because i have had hides soften great and others soften but not good enough to flesh...because the flesher likes to grab. And this will happen in the same pickle and the hides go in at the same time.

I too have seen this. Some because they were salted longer, others because they are from larger deer with thicker skins. I have goten to the point where I don't even relax yearling skins. Or capes that have only been salted till they stop dripping.

You need to rehydrate your capes before putting them in the pickle. Try using Ultra Soft it works great.

wont rehydrating it mess with the hair ...like in terms of slipping? i dont know i have never herd of that before.
