What do some use to duplicate the lower lip on a whitetail? Just looking for something different.
Thanks

Works well. You can buy it in black. Put a little on, and pat it with terry cloth or a towel, to give it some texture.

All you have to do is simply do not tuck the bottom lip as far as the rest. Leave it out like a real deer's. Look at a reference photo you can see exactly what to do. Never leave it wider than the nose pad though. You could never make a decent looking lip out of apoxie sculpt. When it is done just texture it with Mod Podge, and airbrush it the right color. Deer's lips and noses are not just black. Like I say look at a refrence photo and it will tell you everything you need to know.
Whitey, speak for yourself. I had a deer come from the tannery that was missing the lower lip. I rebuilt it with black apoxie sculpt and painted it. Came out great and the customer never knew the difference.
We rebuild all of our lower lips with apoxi sculpt. we tint regular apoxi sculpt with red flocking. After doing any apoxi work around the eyes and tear ducts then we build a new lip right over the top of the old one. Use a modling tool to texture the lip. Then paint a little flesh on the lip, followed by black from the sides to hit the high spots and leave the textured lines in the lip a pink color. Now lightly blend and tone down the flesh by spraying a little black strait at the lip.
Presto your done.
By the way we do the same things to our noses after the modge podge.

putting a little piece of clay behind the lower lip.
that it doesn't really matter how you get to the end, just as long as the end results is that it looks alive. Thanks to all of you who inputted. I'll try your techniques and pic the one that works best for me.
