1. Go ahead and salt it. You can deal with(sew or pin) the exit hole(s) after it's tanned if necessary. You shouldn't do any fixes until after tanning.
2. You can either sew it(1 lb monofilament line) or pin it(insect pins). Be sure to use a good hide paste. That thin skin behind the eye is tough to completely hide cuts on unless they are so close that they can be tucked.
3. Sure. Either sew them(See above) or pin their edges down in the groove. If they're small enough their edges will just be hidden when the skin is tucked in the grooves for them. Flesh colored wax can be used to fill/cover any openings.

as far as the slug hole i just sow it if the hair is ok,while its drying keep an eye on it,you may have to tap on it with a hammer if there's a bump in the skin or the hair raises up.if the hair is not cut it out using a football cut then sow .the eye you can go ahead and tuck the skin and shape the eye ,[i use a 1/4 inch brush for this] then use a pin to taxi the skin into place around the cut ,if your using good glue the skin will stay in place.Use the wax on your bow string.apoxie clay or sculpt is better.tear ducts can be tucked as long as you have enough skin ,again use a pin or something larger that's got a point to move the skin .THIN SKIN AND GOOD GLUE AND A GOOD CLAY IN THE EYES AND EAR BUTS .Good luck

You were given good advice

What those guys told you will work. I just have to say that on the next deer you shoot, don't shoot it in the neck and be more careful when skinning around the eyes and tear ducts and you won't have any of these repairs to do.
