This might be a dumb question but i see so many old mounts in businesses and in people's garages that the capes look like they are almost white. Does this fade out in time or is there something you can do to stop that? Or is it just a build up of dust on the animal bc it wasn't kept clean?

If it is near sunlight it can bleach out over time, dust also builds up fast on mounts.
Even those mounts kept indoors but near a window that lets sun it can fade out over time. But also remember, nothing lasts forever but time.
I believe that bleaching can also occur when the taxidermist used baking soda and water to relax a cape for more stretch. If too much was used the hair will whiten up in a shorter period of time.
