Who knows why some deer when you mount loose that first layer of skin,while mounting is it from handling the deer of the tanning process? some deer do it other don't. thanks for any help

It's most likely the handling of the cape prior to tanning. Stop rot works WONDERS on preventing epidermal slip, especially around the eyes and so fourth.
I have used a certain tannery that always seem to cause my capes to lose that thin layer of skin around the eyes. It never happens with the other tanneries I used.
It is no big deal as you can just airbrush it back, but I prefer as little paint as possible.
