I sincerely want you to understand the point I was trying to make. It is best explained in W. Frank Calderon's book Animal Painting and Anatomy. If you have a copy it is explained on page 97, the section on the Bones of the Neck. A very good read. This book is one of the best on anatomy I have found. It is like the bible for sculptors.

I'll try to pick one up. I was just relying on 17 years of teaching Human Anatomy & Physiology and understanding joints and their motions. I do various skeletal models and studies with whitetail bones to help with competition and judging. Possibly, I struggled with the difference in our terminology. I think our ideas might be similar, but our terminology is not understandable to each other. Thanks, at least you opened up and old mind to research and new ideas. Good Luck, it was a good thread.
