Hey guys...been seeing a bunch of posts pertaining to nose work. This is my biggest headache right now. I recently purchased a nose mold which a fellow sells on ebay. Dose anyone have an opinion on this mold? I had the dan-d-noser, but could not get the look i wanted. I have my first paying customers deer mounted and finished except for the nose work, I cant seem to get it right. I also was wondering if there was a paint schedule for noses that a beginner could follow. Ive read a few from the archives, they seem a bit complicated for my skill level at this point. Anyway let me know your thoughts on the nose mold, and any advise is appreciated.

Go back to the basics. There is a pretty decent beginners article on finishing in Issue 2 of Focus eZine...with pics and illustrations. Go to www.internationalwildlifedesign.com and click on issue 2 . Username and password is there. Hope it helps a bit.
I use it on competition mounts only and have had several NTA judges compliment me on them. What I do is take some grey apoxie sculpt mix and fatten it out between two flat objects to about 1/16 thick, let it sit for a 1/2 to 1 hour and firm up then apply to the nose, use a sculp tool to trim to the natural nose line then hold the mold between two fingers and apply with even pressure. Dust the nose with flesh color using more flesh color at the bottom of the nose, airbrush each nodule with black and cover more area at the top with black. Then dust with YOX nose color, dry, clear and BAM your all set!
