Guys, This is My first full season as a Full time Taxidermist and
Thus far it has been great I just got in deer #31 and I'm getting
alot of Questions regarding the other area taxidermist work, Since
I'm doing the customers 99 head, they are showing me the other work,
and Frankly it's BAD, But I never knock anyone, my question is beside
the dirt "what is the signs true heat damage from a fireplace or wood
stove"I want know so I can understand what I'm looking at, if it's shotty
work or customer error. I'm seeing lips apart, ears curling on the
edges and Hair that looks like he never had a wash or Brush if I say
something regarding the process and they take my head home and the same
thing happens, then I look stupid & shotty.
Any info would help Chris

It will smell like a wood fire.

Is the hair dry and scratchy, it there just a lot of dust on it?

It does sound like dry preserved.

Maybe just poor workamnship.

NO PROBLEM with my D.P. mounts, sounds more like chunks of meat left on the hide or not shaveing thin enough. I use epoxy glue too so that makes a difference. If the ears are curleing, they probably did,nt turn them all the way. Or like John says "poor Workmanship". Goodluck with your bussiness................Tom
