I have never done a lamp and need suggestions. Do I have to dig a lot out of the hoof and will Dry Preserve hold up?

knuckle joint(right next to the hoof)salt, pickle, and liquid tan. My opinion is if you can't mount right away, freeze until later. Make sure you use a good sharp scalpel and clean down around the knuckle( between the skin and bone. When mounting press some critter clay right into this area to get a smooth transition.
