I.ve just mounted 3 steelhead from lake Erie they where pretty dark when I got them ,but now their dry they turned black I'd like to make one look like a silver steelhead can I bleach them and if so how?
You will have to replicate the natural colors with paint of your choice. Check vendors for a paint schedule and recommendations. The archieves should cover this in detail. The fish you have mounted can vary significantly in color hue, tone and pattern, dependent on sex cycle, age, and sex. If you have reference photos of the fish when fresh, I suggest you use them.
