Paint drying before hitting fish

Submitted by Kevin on 6/21/01. ( ) 24.5.223.61

I know it's probably been asked a million times, but sometimes my paint dries before hitting the fish leaving a "powder". Thank you all for the info on "lacquer retarder"; the above problem was the basis for that question. How do I prevent this from happneing? I use lifetone lacquer. Thanks in advance.

What's your pressure set on. You should be running 30-35 psi and have no problems. Also how far away are you from your project?
Also you can get retarder from WASCO. They sell it for laquers. It's under polytranspar.

I'll second frank's thoughts. Years ago I had the same thing happen.
I turned the air down and it fixed my problem.
