Remove fish smell, FINALLY!

After 20 years of taxidermy I have found a GREAT product. The NEW Dawn dish liquid, antibacterial formula. I use it to wash my fish skins before mounting to remove leftover slime/blood. I let the skin soak for about a half hour and presto, fish odor 98% gone. It even gets the smell off of your skin!

Old Dawn

Is anti-bacterial too, and has about the same degree of effectiveness. This was substantiated in recent laboratory tests. Consumer reports sponsored the tests. Found each to be about as effective as the other. "New" is a marketing excuse to charge more.

All soap

is anti-bacterial. Friction and surfactant effect remove bacteria. Bacteriacidals actually kill bacteria. Thats why hospitals are always preaching about handwashing. not about with what soap you use to wash with. this explains why NEW DAWN is exactly the same effectiveness as OLD DAWN. They ARE the same, it just smells different and has a different color now. Any how, Jim is right, washing your skins helps.

Scent

I know that all soaps are anti-bacterial (worked in med field for 17 years) it is the SCENT of the anti-bac Dawn that I believe makes the difference. Don't know about the rest of their line so I just made sure and endorsed the EXACT one my wife buys. By the way the NEW isn't any more expensive than the old!

that the SCENT of the anti bac Dawn makes the difference. Old or new doesn't concern me so much but I wonder if it's available in he Philippine market. Just who would you mention is the liscenced distributor of this product? Could it be effective if used in cleaning sharks jaws for taxidermy? If somebody knows how to preserve and even clean the sharks jaws beatifully by experience, please share.

As a fish taxidermist, I am up to my elbows in fish guts and stink all the time.Although I usually wear gloves,at times I don't. The two best products for getting this stench out of your hands are 1. Orange Gojo....sold all over, Wal-mart, etc. 2. Murphy's Oil Soap
Hey, I don't own stock in these companies, just trying to make the world smell better!

And if you want 100%

Try the Hand Sanitizer from Epo-Grip. Removes garlic, onion, AND fish oils completely while leaving your hands with only a MILD scent. No orange groves, lemon groves, or gym floor smell left and the scent eliminated completely. Approved by the USDA for food handlers as well.
