Howdydo all I just finished skinning my first fish and all and all not to bad of a job. I do have a cut near the back of the anal fin and noticed on the show side in the tail area scales are comming up alittle. Is there anything that can be done to save on more scales being lost? Oh yeah the fish is an 11" crappie I was told not the easiest fish to start with but thats all I have managed to catch sofar.Kinda funny when I wasnt wanting to learn this art form I had no problem catching fish LOL. Thanks and take care.

If you'll click the orange "search" button to the left and type in "crappie scales", you'll find a wealth of good knowledge that many have dealt with. And you're right, you picked a heck of a first fish. Was my first to. But the real fun comes when you gotta start the airbrushing. Good Luck! Jeff
Yes crappy are a loose scale fish to begin with. Some taxidermists who do these fish alot, seal the fish with glue (water soluble) before skinng them out.
