What is best to degrease a fish? I was once told to use unleaded gas. Will it work? Then as far
as selears give me a clue. Thanks,
Mike

Many years ago we used Stoddard Solvent. its off the market now. It is not the same as unleaded gas. Use a strong soap and that dont take long either plus is a whole lot safer.
I USE ONE GALLON OF RACING FUEL TO ONE GALLON OF WATER. YOU CAN LEAVE THE FISH IN THIS SOLUTION FOR A LOOOONNNNG TIME. WHEN READY TO MOUNT JUST WASH IN LUKE WARM WATER ADD YOUR DP AND MOUNT. I FIND THAT THIS NOT ONLY DEGREASES BUT ALSO SET THE SCALES AND PRESERVES THE SKIN.
It's also has a higher flash point than other solvents which makes less less dangerous. Several shops have burned to the ground using flammable solvents for degreasers. Paint thinner will estinguish a match if you try to light it.
Two questions for the previous posters:
1.) John why didn't you refer him to the "George button." LOL
2.) Leapin why are you shouting?
Leapin are you kidding or for real about the racing gas/water for degreasing?
Mike
If it doesn't do you know of anything that would? Besides ANTS!
