Question for Capt. Foster

Submitted by max on 02/10/2004. ( )

I am getting ready to lay up some repros, but it is only about 50 degrees in my garage. I have read some of your posts regarding UV light as an aid in getting the polyester resin to set up. I have a 4 foor flourescent fixture with 2 blacklight bulbs in it, will that help? Thanks in advance

50 degrees isnt all that bad . All you have to do is add more hardner . The problem you have to worry about is that at this temperature, the resin will be thicker and it might be harder to get the air bubbles out . As long as its above freezing you can do fiberglass , it will just take longer to dry . Believe me , I work on boats outside now in this weather . Rick
