I was out of town on business yesterday and after I got back I had 9 messages on the answering machine. One apparent fish customer and his wife called three times and never left an actual message, but I could hear them arguing in the background about when he wanted to come by, if she would be passing through the area, etc. etc. I even heard profanity and they had no clue they were being recorded. I have no idea who it was but they really sounded like a pair of hicks.
Jeeze, this is the 21st century and they don't know how answering machines work?

...Just remember which state you reside in - lol!
It's one of those "Red" states. LOL
We may finally be getting Daylight Savings Time this year. It was just too progressive of an idea in the past. LOL
I get that all the time, so I decided to really go all out and progressed and got Caller ID, $6.00 a month , I know it is big expense for you cecil but you might make it up when you get more fish in every week,LOL
My phone company is a small town phone company that is also my server. Last time I checked -- no call ID available.
...but not my business phone. Sometimes I've thought of getting it just so I can avoid answering the few telemarketers I get. But I would feel awkward calling back a potential customer that has hung up on me...
Even though Indiana is quite backwards we did have a no call list long before the federal governement. I don't miss those telemarketers!
But I still get one or two calls a week usually from somebody wanting to know if I want to start taking credit cards. I've actually considered doing it. But I have a problem with me getting hit with a 3% (or whatever it is) charge for their convenience (& I can't legaly charge them extra). BUT, I have considered making them pay the full price up front. That way (although 3% less) I'm at least (in theory) making money on the time I've got their full price vs. the half-down with my cash paying customer's...
with a credit card and the credit card company gets a monthly fee regardless whether you use their service or not.
Actually I have posted this before, but what really burned me was to find out if a customer challenges your charge the credit card company will ABSOLUTELY NOT BACK YOU. I had a mail order customer say he never received anything from me even though I had a signed receipt from the USPS, but the credit card company still initiated a charge back meaning that amount was taken out of my checking account. Fortunately I was able to get my money from the customer. I don't believe this customer was intentionally trying to cheat me, I believe his business partner used the card and since their record keeping skills were so bad he had no record of it.
