I am trying to preserve whole shark heads and then dry them. I know how to do it perfectly with formalin however I am wondering if I can get the same results with one of the many fix-it solutions found on the web.
I am very skeptical because I know how dangerous formalin is and I dont want to kill myself.

What exactly is "tanning"? Will it lightn the shark's skin or something like peroxide does?
