iam doing a king salom right now and i haven"t ordered a head for it yet. but i have a rainbow trout on hand that would fit, my question is could i substatute the rainbow for the king without the customer noticing it . the king dosen"t have a hook and they look pretty much the same

the difference. Sooner or later the customers friends or family would notice a subtle difference and ask who mounted that? Is saving a few bucks now worth your reputation later?
Call Bill Leach at Caribou Supply in Idaho (208)267-5331, and get the right head. Its worth it.
I have interchanged species that were very close but there is a big difference between a rainbow and salmon - even non spawning. I would hold off until you get the right head. Even if it is just for piece of mind.
Try to find a king head.
