I was currently mounting my northern (8lbs)and did mold from a plaster for a body. I intendet to use my two part urethane foam, witch has been in my supplies over a year. I thought it would be too old,but i did examinationb pour and noticed it expanded well. Next I did the mannikin and it came out really good. When I mounted the fish over a mannikin,it was still ok. But the second day of drying opened as a nightmare. The hole mannikin was shrunken about a half from original size inside the fish! I used normal manners in mounting, like gluing the skin into mannikin with acrylic latex caulk. What happened? Was the urethane foam too old? If so,this could be a real warning to all of you,not to use old products! Has anyone had same kind of experience?

but any possiblity there was some kind of solvent in the skin?
I recently ran into a bad batch of foam that did the same thing...I lost a couple fish because of it...Im not sure what caused this, I have mounted tons of fish with no problems...and then! All my stuff was shrinking. This was a fresh batch(freshly ordered anyway) no telling how long it sat around some warehouse! I recently ordered my foam from a new supplier..."bada bing" problem fixed...now Im just worried about customers with fish from that bad batch!
What a nightmare! This is how I make most of my fish bodies. If you had let them cure longer before using would that have made a difference or could it possibley have been something else ie. degreaser, glue etc.?
..it was truly a nightmare, thought it wasn't customer mount! I'm sure that I did everything like I had always done, thats why it was so big surprise for me! I did let it cure long enough and body was ready about 5 days before I mounted it. I surely hope that you guys won't face a problem like that never! God bless!
