Can anyone recommend the best colors for painting a walleye? More so the GOLD color in the fish. It's hard getting it to look real.

Go to the search button and type in paint schedule for best in world walleye.I painted a walleye with this one and the guy I did it for has another walleye that he wants me to refinish and paint it like the one I did for him.He gets alot of compliments on the one I did and the other one they ask why it does not look real and it was done by a taxidermist that has been doing fish for over 20 years. There is a pic of my fish in the archives type in guys how about these fish the post is from slick.Just copy and paste in address bar and it will take you to the pics.Let me know what you think.I have been doing fish taxidermy since dec.2005...

I use a shimmering gold

mixed with bright yellow that I paint over the light areas in between the dark pigment on the sides of the fish. If the markings are more gold use more gold. If more yellow more yellow. I would suggest missing a few markings as that is the way it is on the live fish.

A really nice touch on a walleye is after painting, seal the cheeks. Then paint on a silvery sheen over the cheeks and apply your clear coat. However don't get carrried away with the silver. I use chrome pearlescent but just about any silver pearl may work.
