I would recommend the fish taxidermy manual and fish finishing manual by Breakthrough that features Tom Sexton. It's well written and although a little dated in time isn't that dated in techniques. You should be able to find them in any of the catalogs.

As far as classes or workshops, I would ask for references, or as you have done, get some feedback from posters. The Training category may be more appropriate, and a list of schools and workshops can be found at the top of this page if you click on them.

I offer two workshops that are one on one only. One is a 10 day beginning course that covers several warmwater fish species with three methods of mounting fish, mannikins, half cast method, and carving fish bodies. You would taken from start to finish which includes painting. You leave with completed mounts and I can provide provide a largemouth, bluegill, crappie, yellow perch, and smallmouth free of charge. Any others warmwater species you will have to provide.

The other workshop is a coldwater workshop that lasts 5 days and I provide a brook trout and brown trout. If you can come up with a rainbow trout we can do it in addtition to the brook and brown trout. I have attempted to do both warmwater and coldwater fish in one 10 day course, but it's really too overwhelming for the student and the instructor. There just isn't enough time! LOL

Cost is $150.00 per day which includes room and board.

However, I only teach from November 15 to the end of March which is my slowest time of year for customers. I have a few students booked so call to verify if you're interested. No deposit necessary.

I bet you talk very loud. You really don't need to type in all CAPS. Although at my age and with my eyes, it's kinda nice.
