Have you tried doing a Google search for Chemical companies in your area? I got some aluminum sulfate to treat one of my ponds for the fraction of the normal market rate by buying fron a Chemical company.
...Can be purchased from petroleum distributers in 55 gallon drums. Or if you know someone in the LP gas business you may be able to buy it through them. I used to buy mine in the drum, but my local LP distributer uses more than I do and I just buy it from them as I need it now. They use it to clean out the LP tanks. I get it for $2 a gallon. By the drum is cheaper, but if you don't have it sealed up tight you will loose some to evaporation.
Two bucks a gallon? I'm all over that! Will start calling around.
