Bill, this is the paint schedule I use.Ivory white on the light areas on the bottom of the fish and on the gill covers. Then chromepearl the entire fish except the fins. On the top one third of the fish use candy golden yellow. through the center deep violet,On the bottom where you lightened the belly and bottom of the tail lightly mist yellow ochre.Use candy gill red on the breast front part then blend candy vivid orange over the red fading out toward the pelvic fins.Sailfish blue on the gill covers and on the throat lightly. On the copperhead part use the white to lighten that area and then cover with chromepearl. Now use black thinned with retarder to do your bars and spots then use the black to darken the fish to the desired color.Use the candy yellow on the pectoral fins and black on the rest. Now gloss with whatever gloss you like,I prefer a two part epoxy like envirotex to brush on.I hope this will help .

Here's a pic of a male spawning coppernose

For a spawning male you should add the copper colored patch. (Scale tipping would probably be your best bet).

Otherwise other than some minor difference (bars more solid, light fin edges) I don't see a lot of difference from a nothern bluegill. I'd be glad to email you my paint schedule for a northern bluegill complete with illustrations.
