My daughter went fishing and caught an eel- She wants me to have it stuffed and mounted and I cannot find anyone who does it in NJ. Does anyone know of any place who does this? And also - what exactly is a fiberglass reproduction? Thanks, Crystal

you can get a little more information by hitting the orange search button and typing in "eel mounting". There's probably a few guys on this site that may offer their services after reading your post. I'm not a taxidermist, just a hobbyist and have never attempted an eel although a reproduction shouldn't be hard to do. To answer your question, a reproduction is a "blank" (fiberglass or other material) with same dimension and likeness of the specimen to be copied. In the case of an eel, that's the only way I would go. It can be painted to look very realistic and will last a long time. Hope that helps.
Crystal, I am a fulltime taxidermist and do alot of fish mounting. Last year I casted the state record eel that was caught in Round Valley. Have a showroom with approx. 50 fish on display. If your interested let me know.Hillsborough New Jersey. Thanks Robert Kennedy
Back in the late 50's I hunted the farms in Round valley that were deserted before they flooded the area. There was some good small game and deer hunting there back then. I hunted with a friend who lived in Elizabeth, NJ not far from the bridge to the island. I also duck hunted the marshes near the oil refinery. Try carrying a gun there now...lol. When you mentioned Round Valley it brought back memories.
I was stationed at the Brooklyn Navy Yard Dispensary back then. JL
